Autocloz + Maileroo

Maileroo connects to Autocloz as an SMTP relay for a domain you verify in Maileroo. You create an SMTP account for that domain in Maileroo (Domains → SMTP Accounts), then on the Autocloz Mailboxes page choose Email service → Maileroo and enter that account's username (its alias or email) and password. Autocloz sends through smtp.maileroo.com on port 587 and tests the login before saving. Replies go to your inbox, so connect it too if you want them in the Unibox.

What you can do with Maileroo

Maileroo plugs into the Email stack — connect via oauth or smtp/imap, scoped to your workspace.

Per-domain SMTP accounts

Maileroo ties SMTP accounts to a domain. Each Autocloz mailbox uses the SMTP account of its from-address's domain.

Standard 587 relay

smtp.maileroo.com on 587 with STARTTLS, the usual submission port.

Checked at connect

A wrong alias or password fails immediately with Maileroo's response.

How to connect Maileroo

Connect via OAuth or SMTP/IMAP — you keep control of the account, the spend and the data boundary.

  1. 1

    Add and verify your domain

In Maileroo add the domain and publish its DNS records.

  2. 2

    Create an SMTP account

Domains → SMTP Accounts → create one. Its alias or email is the username; note the password.

  3. 3

    Connect in Autocloz

Mailboxes → Connect mailbox → Email service → Maileroo. Enter the from-address, SMTP username and password.

  4. 4

    Send a test

Check delivery and SPF/DKIM results in the received message headers.

Checking delivery

Send a test to an address at a different provider and open the headers. SPF and DKIM should pass for your domain. If Maileroo's logs show the message delivered but it is missing, check the recipient's spam folder; that points to reputation, not to the Autocloz connection.

Settings Autocloz uses for Maileroo

From the Maileroo preset:

  • Host: smtp.maileroo.com
  • Port: 587 with STARTTLS
  • Username: the SMTP account alias or email from Domains → SMTP Accounts
  • Password: that SMTP account's password

Replies with Maileroo

Maileroo relays your outgoing mail. It does not forward replies to Autocloz. Set the mailbox's Reply-To to an address you have connected to Autocloz over OAuth or IMAP, and replies will thread with the lead in the Unibox and stop that lead's sequence.

Security of the stored password

The SMTP password is encrypted before storage and never displayed again. Autocloz rejects a pasted value containing asterisks, which usually means the masked on-screen text was copied, and it will not create a second mailbox for an address that is already connected in the workspace.

Getting the Maileroo username right

Maileroo does not use your login email or an API key for SMTP. The username is the SMTP account you created under the domain, shown as an alias or full address. Autocloz's Maileroo form labels the field accordingly and will not save without it, because a missing username would otherwise fail at the first campaign send with a 535.

Using Maileroo for sequences

Maileroo supports transactional and marketing mail. In Autocloz its mailboxes can be rotated in campaigns alongside Gmail, Outlook or other relays, each with its own daily limit. Pace new domains slowly; the warmup myth article and mailbox warmup explain what actually builds reputation.

What Maileroo does not do in Autocloz

  • No reply reading via Maileroo.
  • No Maileroo API or webhook integration.
  • No automatic SMTP account creation in Maileroo.

Troubleshooting Maileroo

"Maileroo needs an SMTP username".
Enter the SMTP account alias from Domains → SMTP Accounts.
Sends rejected for the from-address.
The from-address domain differs from the domain that owns the SMTP account.

Part of the Email stack

Maileroo is one of the providers behind the Email channel. All mailboxes share the same sequencing, unified inbox, and deliverability tooling regardless of provider.

Frequently asked

Can one SMTP account send for several domains?

Maileroo scopes SMTP accounts to a domain, so create one per domain.

Does Maileroo need a separate SMTP account per sender?

Maileroo scopes SMTP accounts to a domain, not to each address. Several addresses on one domain can share that domain's SMTP account.

Can I track opens and clicks?

Autocloz adds its own tracking to messages it sends, so opens and clicks show in Autocloz reports whichever relay delivers them.

What if Maileroo rejects a message?

The send is recorded as failed on the lead with Maileroo's response, and the campaign moves on to the next lead.

Is Maileroo allowed for cold email?

Check Maileroo's acceptable-use policy for your use case. Autocloz does not decide that for you.
