Best SMS Marketing Software (2026)
The best SMS marketing software depends on what your texts are for. For promotional broadcasts to a subscriber list, SimpleTexting and EZ Texting are established US platforms, while Attentive and Postscript specialise in ecommerce texting. For building your own messaging on an API, Twilio is the default worldwide and MSG91 is a common choice in India. If your texts are one-to-one sales follow-ups inside a sequence that also emails and calls, Autocloz is our pick, with SMS available on its paid plans.
SMS has the attention advantage every other channel envies: people read their texts. It also carries the strictest rules of any outreach channel, and that is what separates a working SMS program from a suspended number. In the US, business texts from ordinary ten-digit numbers have to be registered under A2P 10DLC. In India, senders, headers and message templates have to be registered on the TRAI DLT platform before carriers will deliver them.
The tools in this category look alike in a demo and are built for very different jobs. Some are list-broadcast platforms for retailers and local businesses, some are programmable carrier APIs for developers, and some treat SMS as one step in a sales cadence. This guide sorts them by job, lists the compliance work each one leaves to you, and is explicit about where Autocloz fits and where it does not. We make Autocloz, so weigh our entry with that in mind.

What kinds of SMS marketing software are there?
Broadcast platforms send one message to a large opted-in list: a sale, an appointment reminder, a restock alert. They give you keyword opt-ins, list segmentation, scheduled campaigns and a shared inbox for replies. SimpleTexting and EZ Texting sit here.
Ecommerce SMS platforms are broadcast platforms wired into a store. They trigger texts from shopping behaviour such as an abandoned cart or a delivered order, and they report revenue per message. Attentive and Postscript are the best-known names.
Carrier APIs such as Twilio and MSG91 sell the pipe rather than the product. You get numbers, sender IDs and delivery receipts, and you build the interface yourself or connect a tool that runs on top of them.
Sales SMS tools put a text inside a multichannel sequence: email first, then a call, then a short text if neither got a reply, with the conversation landing on the contact record. That is the shape of Autocloz's SMS channel, and our multichannel sequences page shows how the steps fit together.
What to look for in sms marketing software
US senders need A2P 10DLC brand and campaign registration; Indian senders need DLT sender IDs and approved templates. Ask who does the registration, you or the vendor, and what happens to unregistered traffic.
STOP and its variants must be honoured on the very next message. Check that the tool detects every carrier keyword, not just STOP, and whether the opt-out also blocks your other channels.
A reply to a marketing text is a lead talking to you. Find out where replies land, who gets notified and whether the history sits next to the person's email and call record.
Per-number throughput limits and night-time windows protect both your number and your recipients. A tool that enforces them by default saves you from finding out the hard way.
Carrier fees per message are unavoidable; platform fees vary from a monthly plan with message credits to pass-through pricing on your own carrier account. Model a realistic month, including replies.

What do 10DLC and DLT registration mean for your choice?
In the US, carriers expect application-to-person traffic on ten-digit numbers to be registered under A2P 10DLC: a brand registration for your company and a campaign registration describing what you will send. Unregistered or mismatched traffic gets filtered or blocked. Our A2P 10DLC explainer covers the steps.
In India, the TRAI DLT framework requires every commercial sender to register as a principal entity, register sender headers and get each message template approved. A text that does not match an approved template is not delivered. The DLT registration guide walks through it.
Most platforms leave the registration itself to you and your carrier. Autocloz does too: registration happens with your provider, and Autocloz does not check it before sending. What it does check is the launch, which is blocked when a campaign has SMS steps and no active SMS sender.
How should opt-outs and consent work?
Every SMS tool should detect STOP, and a good one detects the full set carriers recognise, such as STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, QUIT and END. The question that separates tools is what happens next. On a single-channel platform, a STOP removes the person from the text list and nothing else.
In Autocloz, a matched keyword writes a do-not-contact record tagged for every channel, so the same person is not emailed, called or messaged on WhatsApp either. Calls and texts also pass a compliance gate that checks DNC lists and quiet hours before sending. Consent is still your job: no software can prove a recipient agreed to be texted if you never collected that agreement.
Where does Autocloz fit, and where does it not?
Autocloz is built for sales teams that text a prospect as one touch among several. A sequence can send an email, wait, place a call, then send a short text, and a reply on any channel stops the rest. Two-way texts land in the same unified inbox as email and WhatsApp, with the lead's timeline beside them. Each sender has hourly and daily caps and quiet hours read in the sender's timezone.
It is not a promotional broadcast platform. If your SMS program is flash sales, cart reminders or a keyword-based subscriber list, a dedicated broadcast or ecommerce tool from the list above will serve you better. And because Autocloz sends through your own carrier account, carrier message fees are billed by that carrier, not by us.
SMS is a paid-plan channel in Autocloz. The free plan covers the CRM, email sequences and calling, so a team can start there and turn on texting when it upgrades. Plan details are on the pricing page.
When is SMS the wrong channel?
When you cannot show consent. Texting a bought list is the fastest route to a carrier block and, in the US, a TCPA claim. Email or a phone call to a business line is usually the safer first touch for cold outreach.
When the message is long or needs links and formatting. A text is best for a short nudge, a confirmation or a question that takes a one-word answer. Anything that reads like a brochure belongs in email, which our cold email software guide covers.
Why Autocloz for sms marketing software
Autocloz suits a sales team that wants texting as one step in a cadence alongside email, calling, LinkedIn and WhatsApp, with every reply landing in one inbox and on one CRM record. Opt-outs on SMS block the person on every channel automatically, and launches with SMS steps are stopped when no sender is connected. SMS needs a paid plan and your own carrier account; for promotional list blasts, a broadcast or ecommerce SMS platform is the better fit.
Frequently asked
What is the best SMS marketing software in 2026?
It depends on the job. SimpleTexting and EZ Texting suit US list campaigns, Attentive and Postscript suit ecommerce brands, Twilio and MSG91 suit teams building on an API, and Autocloz suits sales teams that text as part of a multichannel sequence.
Do I need 10DLC or DLT registration to send business SMS?
In the US, business texts from standard ten-digit numbers need A2P 10DLC brand and campaign registration. In India, commercial SMS needs DLT registration of the sender, headers and templates. Both are done with your carrier or provider.
Is SMS included in the Autocloz free plan?
No. SMS, WhatsApp and LinkedIn steps are on paid plans. The free plan includes the CRM, email sequences and calling.
What happens when someone replies STOP?
Carrier-recognised opt-out keywords must be honoured immediately. In Autocloz, a STOP-type reply also adds the person to the do-not-contact list for email, calls, LinkedIn and WhatsApp, not just SMS.
Can I use SMS for cold outreach?
Only with care. Texting people who have not consented carries legal risk in the US under the TCPA and is blocked by Indian DLT rules. Most teams use SMS after an email or call has opened the conversation.
